We left Devil's island at 5:45 pm on April 4th and on a Southeasterly course headed towards the mouth of The Amazon River. By April 5th around 4pm the Officer Of The Watch gave the "attention" to the Engine Control Room to advise that the ship would pass through the shallow waters of the river bar. Which meant that at dinner as John and I celebrated our anniversary, we were in the waters of The Amazon River.
